Typeset Layout #3

My final layout using the Typeset papers...at least for now.

This layout is "Medley" from Imagine: (click on image to enlarge for more detail)
I need to take some pictures of us together for this layout,
since it's titled "Happy TWO-gether".

On this layout, I used the zip strip (cut into segments) for my journaling strips! Waste not...the zip strips make great borders, accents and more!

I realized I haven't shared how I have made the stars on my pages. The stars themselves are shapes from the Cricut CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge, cut out at 2", 2-1/4" and 2-1/2" (different sizes used on each layout). I took a stylus, and starting from the center point of the star, I scored (dry embossed) towards each point in the star. I creased each scored line, then sponged the creased edge in Cocoa ink...giving the star a 3-dimensional appearance. Use a piece of 3-D foam tape in the center of the star for more dimension on your page.

Typeset Layout #2

Beware! The Typeset paper packet is addicting after you start using it!

This layout is "Final Act" from Magic: (click on image to enlarge for detail)
It's another "masculine" type of layout...which I sometimes find more challenging. This one is titled "A Boy & His Toys"...and does my boy have lots of toys! LOL

I used many of the same techniques and embellishments on this layout as I did on the previous one, and was inspired by layout #2 from the WOTG.

Typeset Layout #1

I had an All Day Crop on Saturday (what fun we had!)...and I planned to use the Typeset paper packet to create some personal layouts. I haven't had much opportunity to play with these papers. I created 3 different layouts, and I'll showcase a different layout each day this week. Now, I just need to find pictures...I plan to use these layouts for my hubby's birthday in May, if I only remember!
This layout is Sweet Symphony from Imagine: (click on image to enlarge for more detail)

I used the Typeset WOTG kit...the stamp set is so much fun! I did change up the layout designs from the instructional brochure, I like to fill the page with papers and photos, rather than having lots of open space on my bases. These particular layouts lend themselves to using Flip Flaps too...so I can even get more photos on the pages!

The embellishments on these pages were addicting too! I just love the Milepost Shapes (Z1464, $3.95)...these are die cut shapes from corrugated cardboard, and accented with our Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint (Z1039, $2.95). A fun technique...give it a try! I also used the Token Alphabet (E1020, $29.95) stamp set for my titles, and then cut letters from the zip strip to complete my titles...genius! The idea for embellishments and titles were taken directly from the WOTG brochure.
This paper packet (Typeset, #X7139B, $9.95)is carried over into the Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book, however, the Typeset Workshop-on-the-Go kit (#G1024, $29.95) is not...get yours before it's gone!

Many Thanks cards

Did you realize January is National Thank You month? I came across that lil' tidbit of information a couple weeks ago while I was making my Thank You cards for Christmas. Do you find yourself too busy to send out a hand written thank you note...let alone a hand made card? With today's technology, it's so much easier to send a quick text or email, but in my opinion, it doesn't have the same impact as a hand written note. Take some time today, and make someone feel appreciated by sending them a special handwritten Thank You note!

Here are just a few of mine I sent out: (and a sneak peek at a new stamp set too!)

Thank You for taking the time to visit my blog!

Rock the Block Artwork

Today, I worked on and completed my Rock the Block collage cubes...what a fun project! If you haven't ordered yours yet, make sure you do...don't miss out on this special promotion, it's only available until January 31st! I plan to create some cards and layouts using the exclusive stamp set that comes with Rock the Block.

Here's what you get:

Next find photos that you want to use for the project...I used a few pictures taken from getaways in 2011, and chose the Dreamin' papers (surprised? lol). The collage cubes work perfectly for 4x6 photos...but I've seen some artwork using lots of smaller photos too.

One of the first things I did was sponge all the corners of the cubes...so you don't see the white, unless it's in the color palette of your project.

Next, I found it easier to create a 6x6 layout for each side (4-6 layouts):

Then cut the 6x6 layout into (9) 2x2 pieces...yes, it was hard to cut across the photos...I think that's normal for us scrappers! LOL

And finally adhere all your 2x2 pieces onto your collage cubes. WARNING: work on just one side at a time, and make sure your cubes line up so that when you flip a row (and flip all the rows in the same direction for simplicity) the next picture to appear doesn't come out scrambled.

Here's all four sides of my project:

Remember...this amazing deal is only available through January 2012! Don't miss out, order your Rock the Block here!

Cards and Paper Sack Pouch

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Here's a project I'm offering when you attend my all day crop on Saturday, January 21st. RSVP required...come join us!

I made four cards (4-1/4" square) using our Wishes Card Confidence How-To program as inspiration. I used the Wonderland paper packet along with Snowflakes and Winter Joy stamp sets. And the snowflake images coordinate with shapes on our Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. The paper sack pouch is made by taking a paper sack lunch bag, folding it in half, and taking the front fold and folding it down 1/2 way down the middle creating a flap. Take ribbon tied around the flap to create a pouch. So easy! And a great gift idea too! I adapted my cards from the 4-1/2" card designs in Wishes to 4-1/4" because they seemed to fit better in the paper bags I had on hand...always using what I have!
