Saturday YouTube Video - Spellbound Halloween Party

If you host Halloween parties - I have the perfect kit for all of your party favors, including treat bags, cupcake liners, soda wraps and a BOO banner...it's the Spellbound Workshop on the Go kit.  This Cricut kit gives you most everything you need to create a ghoulish Halloween party for 8 guests...even including exclusive papers and a coordinating stamp set too!  The cute Spellbound paper packet is available only in this kit.

Sorry...I'm not hosting this particular kit in my workshop schedule, but with the instructional brochure included in the kit, I have no doubt you can assemble this kit on your own.  You'll need to set aside about 6 hours and you'll need the new CTMH Artiste Cricut cartridge to complete this kit.

Watch as Kristine shares with you the Spellbound Halloween workshop:
(This kit can be found on page 14 of the Autumn/Winter Idea Book.)

Flirty...with a twist!

I recently hosted my Flirty WOTG workshops, and I admit...the pages are BRIGHT!  I personally don't mind the pinks and yellows...these colors will definitely give a splash of color to the pictures I eventually put on them.

However, my friend Barb, didn't think her boys would appreciate SO MUCH pink...so she adapted her pages to work for her family:
That's what I love about CTMH B&T duos...the versatility!  Instead of using the Flirty Raspberry cardstock color as the base for her layout, she used New England Ivy cardstock, and used the opposite side of the B&T duo's that the rest of us were working with.  So remember...just flip papers and change it up to work best for YOU!

Photo-less Layout...Live in the Moment

I have to admit, this was a first for me.  The project accomplished exactly what it was suppose to...get us thinking outside the box, and outside of our comfort zone!  At first, it was VERY intimidating, but then after I got started, it was exciting watching it all come together.

We were given an assignment (challenge) as we left our team overnight retreat last month to document our time spent together as a team, in a 1- or 2- page layout...without using any photos!  WHAT???  No photos...that's right, we could NOT use any photos on our pages.  We had to bring the experience to life by using journaling and stamping.  Not an easy task.

Only a few of us completed the assignment (on time) but I hope those that didn't will take the time to do it and show it another time.  It was fun to see how different each layout was...each one was truly a piece of art!  However, each layout shared the same theme in the journaling...friendship, food, memories and creativity.

Here's mine:
and with my journaling exposed:
(click on images to see in more detail)

I used the Dakota paper packet, it's quickly becoming one of my favorites!  I must have used a dozen different stamp sets to get the "word puzzle" look I was going for.  Most of those stamp sets are long retired from CTMH, but nonetheless, still some of my favorites, just for this purpose!

The note (with a pull-out tab) on the right page actually contains the assignment we were given...this is a great technique to save memorabilia of any kind.  I created a "pocket" by popping up the word puzzle using 3-D foam tape, and keeping the 4th side open, to slide the paper inside.  It reads: "How often do you actually live in the moment or allow yourself to enjoy an experience?  My guess is probably not often enough." Then goes on with journaling prompts to help us really reflect on the time we spent together.

As scrapbookers, we are usually always behind the camera, shooting tons of pictures just to get the perfect one, and most often aren't living in the moment, and missing the entire experience altogether.  Sometimes, just forget the camera...and live in the moment...experience every aspect of the time you have with others.  My hope for you, is to try this challenge for yourself...next time you don't have pictures of an event (for one reason or another), make a layout without any pictures, and let only your journaling tell the story!

It's Your Day meets Dakota

Celebrate National Stamping Month during the month of September by earning this double stamp set, "It's Your Day" for only $5 with a qualifying $35 order...contact me today!
I was inspired by this card from LeAnne Dudley using the National Stamping Month stamp set, It's Your Day that she posted on Facebook last month:
Thanks for the inspiration, LeAnne!

I had recently been creating using the Dakota paper packet for another project, so I decided to use the Dakota papers and recreate LeAnne's card, only making slight adjustments to the original idea (why change perfection, right?).  Here's my card:
I really liked the illusion of motion using the bicycle...so I kept that element.  I also liked the banner idea...just went with a simpler idea.  I also wanted to add some additional dimension to the card, so I popped the circle with "life is good" and added some durable studs to the lower right corner.

I can't wait to continue creating with this stamp set...with all the fun images...the possibilities are endless!  And perfect for scrapbooking too!

Fall Favorites

We are coming to my favorite season of all...and that is Autumn.  I love fall...and everything that goes along with it...pumpkins, cooler weather, turning colors.  The stamp of the month for September is perfect to capture the feel of the changing season too!
Here's the card I designed using this set:
I was assigned Avonlea papers to use with this set...yes, it was challenging, but I like the way it turned out.  I also used our new alcohol based markers (autumn terracotta and olive) to color in the pumpkins.  The markers come in sets of two (for $5.95)...one being in the color you choose, and a 2nd accompanying marker in a lighter or darker hue, so that we cover the entire color spectrum.  I LOVE the new markers...I just need to learn to shade colors better.  I think I could get back into "coloring" again! LOL

I will be posting more artwork this weekend after I receive my swap from the others participating...be sure to stop by!
